Risk Management 2009

The Alabama Real Estate Commission requires real estate licensees to take 15 hours of continuing education (CE).  One class is required, Risk Management.

In 2008 at the request of the Real Estate Commission, the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE) contracted with Jim Lawrence ABR, ABRM, CRB educator and broker for LAH in Birmingham, to write a new Risk Management course and to "teach" this course to the other Alabama real estate instructors. He did so in consultation with Commission General Counsel Charles Sowell and Birmingham attorney Kelly May. The new course containers information on property disclosure (caveat emptor, disclosure statements, stigmatized properties, etc.), Alabama license law (RECAD), environmental hazards, contracts, anti-trust, fair housing, and 24 keys to reducing or minimizing risks.
Jim Lawrence also provided course teaching aids: Power Point Presentation, and a book "Risk Management That Delicate Balance 4th edition 10/1/2008".  As part of the presentation and book Jim included a number of sites under environmental hazards.  His list of active links are included below.
